While the ILC is an independent statutory authority, it is also a portfolio agency of FaHCSIA.
Caring for our Country is the Australian government's natural resource management initiative. The initiative integrates the Working on Country Indigenous land and sea ranger program with other natural resource management programs.
Working on Country is part of the Caring for our Country initiative. It provides funding for Indigenous people to deliver environmental outcomes, building on their knowledge of protecting and managing land and sea country.
The National Reserve System is Australia's network of parks, reserves and other protected areas which conserve native plants and animals. Building Australia's National Reserve System is one of six priorities for national investment under Caring for our Country.

Caring for Our Country, Working on Country, the National Reserves System and Indigenous Protected Areas are the responsibility of departments within DEWHA.
